Destination Mars!

Here's the Reel to Reel player that the government uses to decode messages from the Martians. In reality, however, this machine hadn' t worked since the 60s. So I wrapped some fishing line around the top reel and when the scene started I would be offstage pulling the fishing line making the reel turn. When you see the movie you'll notice the strange inconsistent speed of the reel.
